Our Founder

Nathan Musgrove founded Excelsior in August 2018. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in accountancy from Wake Forest University. Nathan is a CPA who has spent the majority of his career working for RSM, a large US-based public accounting firm. He began in Charlotte, NC, conducting financial statement audits for RSM's Assurance practice. Nathan then relocated to the Transaction Advisory Services group in New York City, where he rose to Manager and coordinated financial due diligence services for a wide variety of transactions, ranging from $10 to $700 million in scale. 

Following his time in public accounting, Nathan worked for a large organization based in the northeast that provided similar services to those offered by Excelsior, though primarily for nonprofits. There, Nathan developed the concept for Excelsior and honed the skills necessary to provide consistent, high-quality controller and financial management services, while simultaneously juggling multiple clients. Nathan's work was routinely solicited for staff training sessions, and the high quality of his work laid the foundation for the excellent relationships he enjoyed with each of his clients.

Nathan has experience in the nuanced accounting issues unique to an array of industries, including software/technology, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, telecommunications, professional services, agriculture, retail, and in a variety of nonprofit sectors. He is a member of the AICPA, serves on multiple boards, and has taught as a guest lecturer at Purchase College in Purchase, New York.
